Technology is converging, allowing Customers to avail themselves of Multiple Services on a Single Platform

The country is undergoing transformation, especially the IT segment. IT services have been a major contributor to the growth of the IT sector to date. Now, the Indian IT workforce holds a respectable position worldwide. The Indian industry and government too are increasingly adopting IT to bring about greater momentum to the development, systems and processes. This is giving a fillip to the rapidly expanding IT industry. The Indian IT industry, which has achieved significant maturity and consolidation over the past few years, is now set for its next phase of evolution and momentum.

While IT services have flourished, IT products too are witnessing growing momentum. The major barriers to the growth of IT product segment include the lack of IT awareness in many of the industry sectors like retail, lack of process automation and resistance in the adoption of MIS systems. What drives the IT product industry is innovation, quality of product

Mr. Hemal Patel MD & CEO, Elitecore Technologies Ltd.

and service, in addition to innovation and effective systems and processes that drive sales and marketing. This requires an open eye for problems and issues faced by industries and consumers on the one hand and an insight into the next level of events on the other. Complementing this with an innovative mindset that thinks beyond the box and does not just replicate intelligently what are proven successes elsewhere is what will make the success of the product industry.

We, at Elitecore, believe in product innovation based on future insight. The very example of this is, we recognized the need of linking user identity with security as today the user is the weakest link in the Internet security. All the emerging threats, be it external or internal, are targeting the end-user. Our product Cyberoam is the only product in the industry, which attaches the individual user identity to security, taking enterprises a step ahead of conventional solutions that bind security to immobile IP addresses. Such identity-based security protects enterprises from user-targeted external threats as well as internal threats, enabling enterprises to meet compliance needs with instant visibility and proactive controls over security breaches.

Technology is converging, allowing customers to avail themselves of multiple services on a single platform. Unified communications are imparting mobility and easy access to information for customers. For example, with smart phones with Internet connectivity, the corporates have easy access to information on the move, which imparts great mobility and helps quick decision-making.

While these platforms are great enablers, enhancing quality of life and business, they also bring with them threats that had never existed before to the current way of life.

As the ultimate user of technology applications, the security of the user needs prime attention, particularly because threats are evolving everyday. With mobility becoming a part of our enterprise life, there are no longer clear boundaries between the inside world and the outside world. Threats are taking advantage of this blurring of lines. Blended/converged threats, which attack the users through multiple modes, are increasing. Thus, with the convergence of technology, there is a need for security products which can provide comprehensive security to the technology user.

India’s strong work ethic, which has received global recognition, is particularly evident in the IT sector. The Indian Government needs to play the role of an enabler to ease the business operations through planning for the future and building a strong infrastructure firstly to drive the economy through promotion in key dispersed regions as well as to take the benefits of a rapidly growing economy across the whole country, leaving no pockets unreached. A strong legal system is another critical need for an economy to step into a developed state. A shift from status quo to create enabling platforms such as these requires a strong and dedicated effort from the government. Playing such a role takes the government into a proactive and participative role in development.

The products manufactured in India have the low-cost advantage due to the availability of skilled manpower. But to compete at a global level, we now need to develop value-based products. Such products have to be customer- centric to meet their needs. Innovation has been identified as the next wave of growth for the Indian IT industry that will enable India to sustain its edge in the world markets by developing value-based products.

India started off as most emerging nations do with the replication of successful products. But the next level is already here and the next wave of products and industries are already proving their success with high value-based products to which cost advantage is incidental. Deliverers of true solutions is the mark that the Indian industry is set to make today.
