Women Heavyweights in Indian Information Technology

Women are as capable as men, and in some aspects more capable than their counterpart men folks. Time again it has been proved in various fields start, to work in the new organizational and IT environment where the emphasis is on building relationships and on seeing different connections between people and technology. It is difficult to predict exactly what the impact of information technology has been women, or what role they play in the area, due to the paucity of information.

The contribution of women in Information Technology field is to commit a critical mass of women's participation in it. The women seek to empower the technology through the effective and judicious applications. The objective of this energized contribution is to build the technological capacities of privileged and ambitious urban women to equip the significant role in the digital society. The demand recognizes the advances in technology are impacting strongly on the community and that women need to be full participants in its development.

Although many developments are occurring in this area, there is a great deal of under-utilization of equipment due to lack of skilled personnel and poor strategic plans. The attitudes towards women, by both men and women themselves, have often suppressed the development or advancement of women. Often, it is not the technology which is a problem but the economic, social and political structures which keep women in low paid and low status work, whatever the level of technology.

Importance of women in IT, and the impact of IT on women, stays hand in hand. It may help identify the potential of IT for women, whether there is any requirement in the area, and, if so, how women are going to reap the benefits. Women's participation in the IT area must be seen in the context of the domination of the field by certain special urge and determination.
