  Intel celebrates excellence in ICT Integration for Education 

Intel has felicitated various schools, teachers and students who have demonstrated exceptional performance in ICT integration in school curriculum. Union Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal felicitated eight schools, eight teachers, twelve students and six regions across India to acknowledge innovative teaching-learning practices adopted by them. The winners spanned across cities like Lucknow, Kolkata, Bangalore, Chandigarh and Pune.

The contest "Best Integration of Technology in Education" is aimed at strengthening ICT capacities across four categories, namely, student, teacher, school and region. The evaluation criterion followed a stringent screening schedule that involved internal evaluators from Intel perform the first stage of screening. The objective of Intel's association with KVS & NVS is to equip and empower the schoolteachers and students with techniques in developing 21st century skills to prepare them to face the challenges of tomorrow. 
Classmate PCs were awarded to students for making effective use of technology in their projects. Netbooks were given away to teachers for incorporating ICT tools in their teaching, while schools which incorporated Technology Aided Learning (TAL) in their school curriculum and regions which received maximum participation in the contest were awarded Digital Photo Frames. 
"With the world moving rapidly into digital media and information technology, the role of ICT in education is gaining importance day by day to prepare us for global economy. Intel has come up with various initiatives to drive educational excellence with 21st century skills by integrating ICT in the teaching - learning process," said R. Sivakumar, Managing Director - Sales & Marketing, Intel South Asia.
