Seeing an excellent growth potential in India, GN Netcom, led by the Jabra brand, has introduced various new communications products, including the Jabra Dial 520 OC and the Jabra M5390.
Ralph Ede, GN’s Managing Director for South Asia, noted that market research in India had clearly demonstrated customer demand for a highly portable Unified Communication (UC) endpoint interface which Indian office and mobile workers would feel comfortable in using. Traditionally, most communications have been done by analogue office phone, but in the future this phone would be replaced by a soft phone and Ede noted that based on local research, it was important that the modern replacement still had an easily recognizable user interface so that users would embrace and not fear the solution. He added, “We want to be the largest player in hands-free communication market. In India, we are growing at 30% and expect to garner a good market share leveraging on our marketing strategies and product positioning. We are targeting office market and B2B market at large and looking at tying up with various Unified Communication (UC) players like Microsoft and Cisco.” The first of the two products, the Jabra Dial 520 OC, is a corded USB phone optimized for Microsoft Office Communicator (MSOC). It comes with a very familiar keypad-based used interface that eases the transition to Unified Communications (UC). Henrik Brodersen, Product Manager, Contact Center Business Unit, GN A/S, said, “The Unified Communication (UC) market in India is growing at 30-40 per cent on a yearly basis. And with this new product launch, we are confident of gaining a good market share.”
Another product the company has introduced is Jabra M5390. The new M5390 is an office headset that can simultaneously connect to two communications devices such as a desk phone, a PC softphone or a mobile phone, giving users the flexibility and freedom to use one simple headset. With a range of up to 70 metres and enhanced audio quality, the M5390 is ideal for busy professionals who use several forms of communications, but want to avoid the hassle of using multiple devices.
The M5390 combines the sound and range performance of an office headset with the convenience of a mobile headset. It is designed with the office user in mind and guarantees clear and concise audio quality – thanks to the inbuilt DSP noise-cancelling technology, wideband sound and the extended boom arm, which places the microphone closer to the user’s mouth.
Commenting on the M5390 Ede noted that two of the key frustrations that office workers had today was the constraint that telephone cords placed on workers’ mobility and important missed calls because workers were not at their workstation when their landline phone rang. The M5390 can effectively address both pain points, allowing workers the ability to roam freely on the office floor whilst engaged on conference calls and being able to answer the phone even if you are some distance away from your workstation.
The company has Innova Teleocm as its national distributor in India which, in turn, has around 55 SIs, Second Tier Partners and Enterprise Partners to penetrate in the market.
The Jabra Dial 520 OC and Jabra M5390 are available in India through GN’s authorized national distributor Innova Telecom and its channel partners at prices of US$75 and US$299, respectively.
