Sanvei Overseas bags New Contract from TN's Taxes Department

Sanvei Overseas, a system integrator in the field of information technology and surveillance, has bagged the demo contract for setting up surveillance at the different check posts for Commercial Taxes Department, Tamil Nadu. The state government aims to check pilferage and record the entry of all the commercial vehicles for ensuring proper tax collections. Initially, the contract is for 11 locations and pilot run will start from December 2009. The solution for this pilot run will be an IP-based solutions from Verint, a leader in this field. Commercial Taxes Department had given the mandate of technical and financial evaluation of the contract to ELCOT, the nodal agency of Tamil Nadu Government.

“Video surveillance has come of an age. With technological advancement in detection, identification and analytics video surveillance can now be used to find solutions to multifarious problems. Commercial Tax department in Tamil Nadu has decided to use video surveillance to keep a tap and increase tax collection at the state commercial check posts. It is also expected that this will be a key step in IT enablement of government departments beyond central offices,” informed A Jayaprakash, General Manager, Sanvei.

The State Government aims to check pilferage and record the entry of all the commercial vehicles for ensuring proper tax collections. After the thorough technical and financial evaluation, Tamil Nadu Government found Sanvei as the right partner for the project.

The entire project will be based on IP CCTV cameras and video analytics from Verint. The system will be capable of face recognition and numberplate recognition and can be easily integrated with other applications that can estimate the tax revenue and match the tax collection challans with the vehicular traffic. After the pilot run, video surveillance will be extended to all the commercial check posts across Tamil Nadu.
