Dell has introduced discount coupons and the "Dell Go Green Challenge" to promote a green approach towards technology adoption for consumers in India. These are the two latest initiatives in Dell's mission to make "being green" easy and cost-effective for customers.
Mahesh Bhalla, Executive Director & General Manager - Consumer, Dell India, says, "As one of the world's leading providers of technology, we recognize our responsibility to ensure that technology is recycled at the end of its usable life. Dell was, in fact, the first computer company to offer consumers free recycling worldwide and both these initiatives are designed to create awareness among consumers on the recycling of PCs in India."
The special discount coupon helps the customers in India make use of it to purchase their next Dell system on sending their old sytems for free recycling to Dell. The coupon offers a discount of Rs.1,000. Available globally, Dell has now extended its free recycling programme for consumers in India to accept computers from any vendor.
Dell has launched the "Dell Go Green Challenge" in an effort to raise awareness and community involvement in green initiatives in India. The challenge invites users to share photographs, videos, ideas, thoughts and visions on innovative depictions of key issues, concerns or thoughts on green technology at www.dellgogreen.com. The contest will run for two months, during which the community will vote for their favourite entries. The 20 entries receiving the maximum number of votes from the community will be recognized online and through small gifts. The panelists include environmental filmmaker Mike Pandey; Lead singer of the band Agnee, Mohan Kannan; Head of the Regional Climate Security Project, British High Commission, Dr. Sudhanshu Sinha; and Ravi Agarwal, Founder of Toxic Links. |
