  TCS to create 16,500 IT Pros for Rajarhat SEZ Project 

According to latest update, IT Company Tata Consultancy Services has announced that it has devised an innovative scheme to further boost pool of skilled workers in construction and related industries like metalwork across the country.

This unique programme to upgrade skills will be carried out during the construction phase while building new TCS campuses in places like Kolkata, Indore and Nagpur. A pilot programme for this unique skills development initiative has already commenced at Rajarhat, where TCS is constructing a software development campus spread over 40 acres and is being constructed with an investment of Rs.1,350 crore approximately. Once completed, the Rajarhat campus will house over 16,500 seats

It is reported that the campus will be built in two phases, with the first phase to be completed in the first quarter of 2014 and the second phase by the fourth quarter of the year. In the first phase 7,000 seats will be ready with the remaining 9,500 seats being completed in phase II. 

According to S. Mahalingam, Chief Financial Officer & Executive Director, TCS, said, “Our growing presence in Kolkata continues to be of strategic importance for our overall business growth. We remain committed to working in close collaboration with all stakeholders in the state to help development of local talent and provide our customers with world-class IT solutions from this location.”

Commenting on the new facility, Ajoy Mukherjee, Executive Vice-President & Global Head, Human Resources, has also shared his views. He said, “The new TCS Rajarhat facility will drive the next phase of our growth in the eastern region and help us access skilled professionals and students from in and around Kolkata. Our investment will also help catalyse further development of the talent and IT ecosystem in the area”.
