Taiwan-based networking company
Edimax has made a strategic decision that it will invest in India to grow its
market share, especially in the SoHo and mid-market segments.
Speaking
to VARIndia, Hunter Chen, Sales Director, OBM Sales Division, Edimax, said that
the company is going to be very aggressive in the Indian market.
We know that the market will not
change very fast for us but we want to grow organically by undertaking various
marketing and sales activities.
In the first phase, Edimax will launch
its branch office in Nehru Place, New Delhi, which will have seven people, including
one business development manager and one technical manager. They will also have
sales representatives in all the three A-class cities, including Mumbai, Bangalore
and Chennai.
The company has already appointed Kolkata-headquartered Jupiter
International and Mumbai-headquartered Neoteric Informatique as its national distributors.
It is believed that both the distributors have placed very good orders with the
principal.
On the other hand, Edimax is also engaged with the ISPs directly,
which is yielding good results.
According to Hunter, the quality of their
products and support will differentiate Edimax from other brands. Edimax offers
three years warranty on most of the products.
Hunter added, “Our distributors
will only take care of logistics and finance and the rest part, we will do in
terms of marketing, sales and services. In three years, we will have 10–15 per
cent in the active networking market.”
