A monitor or display in computers comprises of the display device, circuitry, and an enclosure. The display device in the modern monitors is typically a thin film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD), while the older monitors use a cathode ray tube (CRT). The first-ever flat panel television was introduced in 1998 by Philips.
