M. N. Vidyashankar, IAS, is the Principal Secretary - e-Governance Department, Govt. of Karnataka. He joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1982 and served in different departments in the State Government, including Rural Development, Revenue, Animal Husbandry, Panchayat Raj, Agriculture and Energy. He also served in the Ministry of Personnel and Public Grievances, Government of India. He was Chairman, BWSSB, Commissioner, BDA, and Secretary to Government, Health and Family Welfare Department.

Vidyashankar's areas of interest include downsizing, re-engineering, e-governance, business process outsourcing, customer relations and enterprise resource planning. Currently, Vidyashankar is Secretary to Government, Department of Information Technology, Biotechnology and Science & Technology. He holds a Master's degree in Economics and M.Phil. from the Delhi School of Economics and an MBA degree from Harvard University, USA.
