  Dr. Anand Deshpande 

Dr. Anand Deshpande earned his Bachelor's Degree (Hons.) in Technology in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT, Kharagpur in 1984. He also earned a Doctorate in Computer Science from the Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana (USA) in 1989. He worked at HP Laboratories as a Member of the technical staff in Palo Alto, California from 1989 to 1990 and has been a member of our Board since he founded our Company in 1990.

He is also a member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Computer Society of India (CSI) and the Young Presidents' Organization (YPO). He currently serves on the executive committee of the NASSCOM and Mahratta Chamber of Commerce Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA). He has been the President of the Software Exporters' Association of Pune for 2005-06 and 2006-07 and Chairman of the Pune Chapter of the Computer Society of India for 2003-04 and 2004-05. He is presently an active member of the database community and has served as the Industrial Programme Committee, Chairman for Very Large Data Bases 2007 in Vienna and was responsible for organizing the said conference in Mumbai in 1996. 

He also served as the Industrial Program Committee Chairman for the International Conference on Data Engineering, 2005 in Tokyo and was actively involved in organizing the 2003 edition of the above conference in Bangalore, India. He was the Organising Chair of the Conference on Management of Data in 2005 at Goa, India. He has been selected as the Technical Chair of the Conference on Database Systems for Advanced Applications held in January 2008, in New Delhi.
