dataserv APAC flags off its new initiative of e-waste pick-up service
dataserv APAC has launched a door-to-door e-waste pick-up service in NCR at Gurgaon which will be supported through toll-free, SMS and email. This vehicle is a part of dataserv’s initiative to encourage Gurgaon residents to dispose of their e-waste in an environmentally sound manner.
Amit Sardana, MD, dataserv APAC, said, India is a growing contributor to the e-waste generated across the globe. The Gurgaon city generates over 11,000 tonnes of e-waste every year, but owing to lack of awareness among electronic users, barely 10% is recycled. This initiative seeks to not only sensitize people about safe disposal of any e-waste generated but also bring professional disposal to their doorstep.
Sardana added, The biggest challenge in e-waste recycling is the gap between end-users and recyclers. The objective of the mobile van is to bridge this gap. With the launch of this service, end-of-life e-waste goes straight for proper recycling and will not end up with the informal sector.
Taking this initiative a step ahead, Gurgaon RWA’s pledged their support to the initiative by tying up with dataserv APAC to place e-waste drop boxes in their colonies to be serviced by dataserv’s free collection initiative. Recycling certificates and comprehensive reporting of e-waste processed will also be made available to users on request.
