DataWind gets Outstanding Product Achievement Award by CATA
To celebrate the best-of-the-best award-winners across the spectrum of advanced technology areas, the Canadian Advanced Technology Alliance (CATA) has announced DataWind as the winner of the "2013 McCagueBorlack Outstanding Product Achievement Award" at the 28th Annual Innovation Awards Gala.
DataWind was chosen by a selection committee consisting of members of CATA's Board of Directors and Industry Experts.
The award recognizes DataWind for this award due to its innovation of the world’s lowest cost tablet computers in the form of the Aakash2, and lowest cost phablet, commercially sold as the UbiSlate 7C+. Offered through DataWind’s UbiSurfer browser, this patented technology reduces bandwidth consumption by factors of 10x to 30x, allowing the delivery of web pages across even congested GPRS networks in 5 to 7 seconds. The DataWind UbiSlate 7C+ tablet computers incorporate quad-band EDGE cellular modems, which coupled with this powerful technology, allow the fastest internet access in the remotest locations.
Suneet Singh Tuli , CEO, DataWind, said, "We are truly honoured and grateful to be recognized by CATA, as this award validates our vision of creating affordability to help bridge the digital divide."
President of CATA, John Reid stated that these award winners have shown that they are innovators and skilled business people. They are role models for the development of commercially successful enterprises in Canada.
