India is still at a nascent stage for mobile workforce management adoption
Udi Geismar,
Head of India Operations,
ClickSoftware
Manually scheduling mobile workers and business assets is extremely challenging. In 1985, Prof. Moshe BenBassat, Chairman & CEO of ClickSoftware, undertook this task for the first time for the Israeli Air Force, helping them build their annual schedule plan for squadrons. This may sound simple. However, many people had tried to automate this plan via a computer with no success. Today, ClickSoftware offers a full range of mobile workforce management, service optimization, and mobility solutions, all aimed at helping service organizations: be more productive, complete more tasks each day, lower operational costs and increase customer satisfaction – all by managing time.
Please give us a brief about what all services and solutions you provide to your corporate clients? Are all solutions readymade or you do customization based upon client’s demand or industry/sector requirements? What is the general ratio?
ClickSoftware offers highly flexible and scalable mobile workforce solutions for the enterprise and SMB market. By optimizing everything from forecasting customer demand, employee shifts and job prioritization, the solutions help service organizations to face challenges of inefficiency.
The company’s mobility solutions, which help connect workers to each other and the backoffice, can be configured with mobile business apps from the ClickAppStore. It is designed to support mobile field service users working in any kind of environment, offline and online. ClickSoftware provides products for all sizes of organizations and all types of industries, including Call Centres, Computer & Office Equipment, Water Utilities, Gas Utilities, Healthcare, Telecommunications, Insurance, Oil & Gas, Public Safety & Security, Rail and Telecommunications.
What is the scenario of such business in India? How big is its market in India and NCR and its current growth rate?
Gartner has projected that India will be the third fastest-growing enterprise software market through to 2016 due to the increased globalization of the Indian economy. This has led to a growing need by enterprises for more modern software with the latest features and increased functionality. By 2016, India is expected to reach 12.1% of the Asia-Pacific software market, representing $5.4 billion in revenue.
As a result of increased economic growth over the last couple of decades, the deregulation and privatization of a number of service-based industries, and the increased marketing savvy of consumers – the service industry in India has boomed. Along with that, a number of challenges have surfaced for all industry sectors. This is how we try to maintain our current customer base whilst differentiating our company amongst the growing list of competitors? This is where ClickSoftware comes in – providing organizations with the ability to not only serve their customers in a more productive and efficient manner, but also provide these companies with the tools to differentiate themselves from a growing plethora of copycat competitors.
Who are your target groups – corporate or SMEs? What is the ratio of corporate to SME clients and in terms of business generation and profit margins?
ClickSoftware is targeting organizations which are having a large number of resources which are working out of the office in the field on a daily basis. Our software is for every organization whether it is a large enterprise or small and medium business. We have a different range of products depending on the needs of the organization.
What are the growth drivers and challenges in this business?
Initially, educating decision-makers and employees about new technology is the major challenge for any market. People are concerned with adopting new technology and invest as technology might not work. India is still at a nascent stage for the mobile workforce management adoption. However, this is changing especially with the focus on enterprise mobility and the advantages gained from implementing a sound mobility strategy. Organizations in India are reaping the benefits of what an enterprise mobility solution can potentially do for their company not only in terms of increasing visibility in the day-to-day activities of their workforce but also by enabling the company to grow and sustain that growth.
What are your future plans or strategies in terms of tie-ups or expansion plans? What is the next stage of growth in this business?
The Indian market has a lot to offer in terms of innovations. We have come out with unique workforce automation offerings for India. We are a software company that is oriented for the mobile workforce. Our focus is on the companies whose workforce is required to accomplish multiple jobs in a single day. Our proposition is that, by deploying our solution, a company can simplify its process of assigning jobs and achieve an increase in productivity.
We started the operation in India three years back, mostly focussing on establishing service operations targeting offshore customers. With time, we see India as our biggest market in the APAC region.
