Every year on May 11, India celebrates National Technology Day to honour its scientific achievements and recognize the pivotal role technology plays in shaping the nation's future. The day holds historical and strategic significance, marking the anniversary of India’s successful nuclear tests at Pokhran in 1998, which established the country as a nuclear power and showcased its technological self-reliance to the world. The then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee declared May 11 as National Technology Day to commemorate this milestone and celebrate the brilliance of Indian scientists, engineers, and technologists.

Over the years, this day has evolved from simply marking a historic event to becoming a platform for showcasing India’s advancements across multiple technological domains, including information technology, telecommunications, aerospace, biotechnology, energy, and more. It serves as an annual reminder of how innovation drives growth, self-reliance, and national security.
