TCS has hired 1,500 experienced professionals with core digital skills to meet the target of up to $5 billion revenue from the digital vertical in the coming years. Professionals like data scientists from domains like design visualization, user experience and the Internet of Things (IoT) were hired to accomplish the task.
Adoption of digital by every company and across every industry in every market place is increasing dramatically. So, digital has become the “default†for businesses across the globe and there is a huge investment from companies in all sectors. TCS plans to invest more in automation technology so that it can drive more efficiency across businesses.
Earlier this month TCS has sacked around 1,000 professionals in the country for non-performance which saw a revolt from the employees and in social media. The company had vociferously defended its actions. So far this fiscal, TCS had a gross employee addition of 16,561, taking the total headcount to 3.18 lakh, while the employee utilization was at 86.7%, excluding trainees. The company's attrition stood at 13.4% and TCS said it would like to keep it at 12-12.5% range and that the increase is not due to any layoffs being carried out, as being speculated on social media.
