This could come as a surprise for those Indians who are willing to use 4G internet services, but cannot use it due to its high price. According to a latest update, Mumbai-based Tikona Digital is planning to launch fourth generation or 4G services at 2 paise to 5 paise per MB.

It is reportedly said that this low-cost 4G service would be available in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh (east and west) and Himachal Pradesh, where it secured mobile broadband airwaves for Rs 1,058 crore in 2010.

According to Prakash Bajpai, Chief Executive Officer at Tikona Digital, “These tariffs will disrupt the market. We will be able to do this since we're already offering data plans at a price point of 2-5 paise per MB for broadband on Wi-Fi which gives speeds of up to 10 Mbps."

So far, Bharti Airtel is the only company offering high-speed 4G services in India for 13-15 paise per MB, excluding the dongle or data card that costs Rs 4,999.

It is expected that Tikona Digital will launch fourth generation or 4G services in the second half of 2013.

Let’s see, whether Tikona digital would be able to fulfill its promise of offering 4G data at 2-5 paise per MB or not. Till then, stay hooked.
