Instagram Introduces ‘Blend’, A Shared Reels Feed

 

 

Instagram has rolled out a fresh and exciting feature called Blend, designed to take Reels collaboration to a whole new level. The Instagram Blend feature creates a shared Reels feed between two friends, right inside their direct messages (DMs). Currently available as an invite-only feature, Blend is part of Instagram’s continued push to personalize user experiences and strengthen social interaction on the platform.

After more than a year of internal testing, the Instagram Blend feature is now live for selected users. It uses Instagram’s powerful recommendation algorithm to suggest Instagram Reels based on the combined activity and interests of both participants. This curated feed updates automatically as each user watches, shares, or engages with new Reels content.

So, how to use Instagram Blend? It's quite simple: one user sends an invite to a friend via direct message. Once the invitation is accepted, a private Blend is created—a dynamic, collaborative space exclusively for the two users. The shared Reels feed is visible only to them and reflects their mutual preferences, creating a unique discovery experience that’s both social and personal.

As part of the Instagram Reels update, Blend also includes fun features to boost interaction. Users can react to Reels using emoji reactions or start a conversation through the message bar, directly from the feed. To make access easier, Instagram has added a dedicated Blend icon at the top-right corner of the shared DM thread, right next to the call buttons. 

The Instagram new features like Blend aim to increase time spent on the platform by encouraging more intimate and personalized sharing experiences. Whether it’s discovering trending videos, sharing laughs, or bonding over niche interests, Blend makes it all happen in one seamless stream. The Blend feature is now live for users globally across iOS and Android.
