The upcoming Rajmargyatra app update will enable users to compare multiple routes—such as via Yamuna Expressway or Ghaziabad–Aligarh–Kanpur—and highlight the one with the lowest toll for smarter, cost-effective travel
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will soon enhance its Rajmargyatra mobile app with a toll-minimisation feature, enabling drivers to select the most cost-effective highway routes. The update, expected next month, marks a significant step toward smarter travel on national highways.
Amrit Singha, Chief Product Officer at the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) division of Indian Highways Management Company Ltd (IHMCL), explained that users travelling, for example, from Delhi to Lucknow will have multiple route options. NHAI tackles violations, opens new highway
In addition to route optimisations, NHAI is addressing unauthorised traffic on access-controlled expressways. ATMS data between June 21 and 23 revealed 173,000 violations on routes such as Delhi–Gurgaon and Dwarka Expressway, with over 100,000 involving two- and three-wheelers. Singha expressed concern over enforcement challenges and noted the new app feature complements broader digital infrastructure efforts.
NHAI Rajasthan Regional Officer Pradeep Atri and Manager Pushpendra Singh also announced the upcoming opening of a four-lane, 67-km highway stretching from Bandikui to Jaipur. Completed at a cost of ₹1,368 crore, the spur off the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway is slated for mid-July traffic trials. Singh noted the construction was finished in approximately two and a half years.
The Bandikui–Jaipur spur will significantly reduce travel time: the current four-hour journey from Delhi could drop to just three hours by bypassing congested sections of the traditional route. The combination of route optimisation and new highway infrastructure reflects NHAI's commitment to enhancing efficiency, affordability, and safety on India’s national highways.See What’s Next in Tech With the Fast Forward Newsletter
