The question uppermost in everyone’s mind is that the economy is not showing robust signs of recovery. As things stand today, there is a danger of it slipping day by day, if the falling rupee is any indication. If the same trend persists, a macroeconomic crisis will be a probability. The pertinent question is that whether the Government has any plans to overcome this crisis of the depreciating rupee? It should also be asked whether we are able to identify those overseas investors who pull out money from the debt market.
The closure of the State-run telegram service after 163 years took place as a consequence of the growing importance of digitization. The advent of the fastest modes of communications like emails, mobile phones and SMS has led to its demise.
Another aspect which I must mention here is that, with the IT landscape becoming more dynamic, it is incumbent on the IT leaders and CIOs to manage the combination of vendors, delivery platforms and service contracts with a view to building a coherent service portfolio. However, there is a need to understand what makes for an effective IT leader who would be able to take the business to the higher level and sharpen the competitive edge.
Over the past few years, the explosive growth in the mobile and personal device industry has been the talk of the town. As a matter of fact, worldwide mobile phone revenues are forecast to be worth $1.6 trillion. A plausible explanation for this explosive growth is the advent of Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) phenomenon. BYOD is a fast-growing phenomenon that can be ignored by any organization. It may be poison for IT, but it is meat for users. Benefits of BYOD are many. From an organization’s point of view, it is the reduction in CAPEX. In addition to this, the organization doesn't have to give thought to the hardware refresh cycle every couple of years.
Last but not the least, businesses all over the world are constantly looking to improve IT efficiency and I am very much optimistic about the penetration of laptops and tablets across the country by the impetus by some state governments’ saga offer to the students. However, security is an issue which can be soft-pedalled at peril.
I would rather say the opportunity is unlimited, courtesy the cybercriminals…
