AI Safety Becomes a Global Priority
Artificial Intelligence is rapidly becoming an integral part of daily life, transforming industries, education, healthcare, and public services. However, as AI adoption accelerates, concerns around safety, accountability, and governance are gaining equal importance.
At the recent G7 Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the urgent need for stronger global safeguards to ensure AI remains a force for good. He warned that unchecked AI systems could expose children and vulnerable communities to misinformation, deepfakes, online manipulation, and digital exploitation.
The growing sophistication of generative AI has made it easier to create realistic fake content. Deepfakes, synthetic media, and AI-generated misinformation now pose serious risks to public trust, elections, businesses, and social stability. This has intensified calls for global standards and responsible AI frameworks.
Modi emphasized that AI should remain human-centric, inclusive, and transparent. International cooperation, he argued, is essential to establish ethical guidelines, accountability mechanisms, and safeguards that can be applied across borders.
At the same time, the AI boom is reshaping the semiconductor industry. Advanced AI models require massive computing power, driving unprecedented demand for high-performance chips, memory technologies, and data-center infrastructure.
Nations are increasingly viewing semiconductors as strategic assets. Governments across the world are investing heavily in domestic chip manufacturing to reduce supply-chain dependencies and strengthen technological sovereignty.
For India, the convergence of AI and semiconductors presents a significant opportunity. With a strong digital ecosystem, growing startup landscape, and ambitious semiconductor initiatives, the country is positioning itself as a key player in the global technology value chain.
The future of AI will depend not only on innovation but also on trust. As governments, technology companies, and industry leaders collaborate on standards and safeguards, the challenge will be to balance rapid technological progress with responsibility, security, and societal well-being.
