Amber Group has entered into a manufacturing partnership with OPPO India to produce smartphones for OPPO, OnePlus and Realme, aiming to strengthen domestic production, improve supply chain efficiency and enhance India’s electronics manufacturing ecosystem.
India’s electronics manufacturing sector is witnessing continued expansion, with new partnerships strengthening the country’s position as a global smartphone production hub. In a significant development, Amber Group has entered into a manufacturing collaboration with OPPO Mobiles India Private Limited to produce smartphones for leading brands including OPPO, OnePlus and Realme.
Under the agreement, Amber Group will undertake the production of mobile phones for these brands in India. The collaboration brings together OPPO India’s global product design and technology expertise with Amber Group’s manufacturing capabilities, scale of operations and established local supply chain network.
Industry observers believe the partnership will contribute to higher domestic value addition in smartphone manufacturing and further strengthen India’s rapidly growing electronics ecosystem. The move is also aligned with the government’s broader push to boost local manufacturing under initiatives promoting self-reliance in electronics production.
The collaboration is expected to enhance production efficiency while ensuring better integration of components sourced within India. This, in turn, is likely to improve supply chain resilience and reduce dependency on imports for key manufacturing inputs.
Focus on scale, quality and growth
The partnership is being seen as a strategic step for both companies. For OPPO India, the collaboration reflects its confidence in Amber Group’s ability to deliver large-scale, consistent and high-quality manufacturing output. For Amber Group, the deal marks a major milestone in expanding its footprint in the consumer electronics manufacturing space.
Speaking on the development, Jasbir Singh, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Amber Enterprises India Limited, said the partnership highlights the company’s strong manufacturing capabilities. He noted that Amber Group is well-positioned to support globally recognised brands by delivering reliability, scale and value-added production solutions.
The collaboration is also expected to generate strong operational synergies between the two companies. Both partners plan to work closely to ensure a smooth production ramp-up and efficient execution of manufacturing processes across facilities.
Boost to India’s electronics ecosystem
The agreement comes at a time when India is emerging as a preferred destination for global electronics manufacturing. Increasing investments from international brands are helping the country expand its production capacity and build a stronger supply chain ecosystem.
Amber Group’s partnership with OPPO India is also expected to open avenues for future collaborations, as both companies explore opportunities to deepen their engagement in the sector. The deal reinforces India’s growing importance in global smartphone manufacturing networks, particularly as companies diversify production beyond traditional hubs.
Professional services firms Ernst & Young (EY) acted as the exclusive financial advisor for the transaction, while AZB & Partners and Aekom Legal provided legal advisory support for the agreement.
