Apple discontinues its Siri-only music plan
2023-11-13Apple will be discontinuing Music Voice Plan, which was launched less than a year ago. The plan, which allowed users to stream music from Apple Music using only Siri commands, was priced at $4.99 per month in the US and other countries where it was available.
The Voice Plan will be discontinued in November and existing subscribers will be able to use it until the end of their final billing cycle. The plan was introduced in October 2021 and allowed users to control Apple Music using only Siri voice commands. However, the plan was not very popular, likely due to its $5 monthly cost and limited features.
In a support document, Apple explained that they were discontinuing the plan in order to "focus on delivering the best, most robust music experience possible for our customers." They also noted that all other Apple Music plans already work seamlessly with Siri, and that they would continue to improve this experience.
Existing Siri-only voice plan subscribers were able to continue using their plans until the end of their final billing cycle. They were also given the option to switch to another Apple Music plan, such as the Individual, Student, or Family plan.
The discontinuation of the Siri-only voice plan is a reminder that Apple is always looking for ways to improve its products and services. If a feature or product is not meeting the needs of its customers, Apple is not afraid to discontinue it.
