AtlasEdge has acquired 12 data centres from Colt Data Centre Services (DCS) for an undisclosed sum. The additional facilities take the AtlasEdge portfolio to more than 100 data centres across 11 countries in Europe, supporting more than 700 customers and providing connectivity to more than 50 different on-net carriers. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Ā
The portfolio includes data centers in 11 tier 1 and tier 2 markets across Europe, including Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Brussels, Copenhagen, Hamburg, London, Madrid, Milan, Paris, and Zurich.
Ā
AtlasEdge was established earlier this year through a joint venture between Liberty Global and Digital Colony with anchor tenancies from Liberty Global operating companies in four European countries: Virgin Media in the UK and Ireland, Sunrise-UPC in Switzerland and UPC in Poland.
Ā
Colt Technology Services will become an anchor tenant across multiple facilities. The deal will help establish a collaboration between AtlasEdge and Colt Data Centre Services, as well as helping Atlas in entering new geographies.
Ā
āOur approach is open, carrier neutral and collaborative, and we look forward to working alongside Colt,ā said Josh Joshi, Executive Chairman at AtlasEdge.
Ā
Niclas Sanfridsson, CEO of Colt Data Centre Services, added: āThis deal will improve the returns on investment across our portfolio, which can then be reinvested into the business.ā
Ā
Colt said it is focused on building and developing larger hyperscale data centre sites, and said the divested facilities were ābetter suitedā to an operator exclusively focused on developing the emerging colocation market within Europe.
