Canon enters professional video products market
Canon has unveiled a range of 9 professional video cameras (PRO-Video), utilizing advanced features such as full HD recording, for the Indian market. The lineup, which has been categorized under the XA and XF series, includes XA10, XA20, XA25, XF100, XF105, XF200, XF205, XF300 and XF305 – a range of lightweight compact design video cameras.
Dr Alok Bharadwaj, Executive Vice-President, Canon India Pvt. Ltd, said, “We are excited with the entry into this new business segment which has a market size of Rs.500 crore, growing at 40% annually. Currently, the professional video cameras market in India is estimated to be around 30,000 units a year. Out of this, the palm held video segment is estimated to be 9,000 units a year. Canon India expects to garner 15-per cent market share of the palm category within 2 years. The introduction of the professional video cameras which we call as PRO-DV is focussed at emerging professional video recording culture in India, particularly for event videography professionals like weddings, Electronic News Gathering professionals, Documentary film-makers, TV Show recordings, etc. We are happy to see growing momentum in TV viewership, multiple channels proliferation, news gathering and wedding videography as, it will help us grow the Pro-DV category in India, where Canon is already present in multiple domains.”
With an aim to enhance appeal of the new PRO-DV range, Canon India will be engaged in various marketing and consumer engagement initiatives, such as, specialized events and workshops for professionals across India. Canon will also educate students across media schools and universities extend professional technical trainings for its partners across India, conduct technical demonstrations for TV stations, Documentary film-makers and event videography professionals. The company will also strengthen its customer relationship by collaborating on various projects and offering a seamless after-sales service experience.
