CIOs look at New Age Technologies to enable Digital Transformation

Digital transformation is helping organizations to reimagine their business in this digital age, with the help of different technologies like AI, ML, IoT, Chatbot, Blockchain and 5G. The word ‘Digital’ means many things to many people. Generally digital transformation is defined as the integration of digital technology into all areas of a business resulting in fundamental changes to how businesses operate and how they deliver value to customers. It may look different for each and every company.

The advancements of newer technologies help the industry heads to deploy the technologies for their industries. Newer technologies are used to increase the productivity of the organizations. Every industry head follow their own practises with the deployment of technologies like IoT, Chatbot, Blockchain or 5G. Digital Transformation is needed not only for productivity but also for manufacturing also. It not only brings success to the organizations but also hurdles, like budgeting, talent struggles, and culture change.

Many veteran CIOs and IT leaders have shared their views on Digital Transformation, IoT devices, the technologies deployed by them, their top priorities and the challenges they have faced in order to adopt digital transformation practices -

Lakshmana Vadaga, Head - IT, Adlabs Entertainment LTD.

“Adlabs Entertainment LTD uses technology to transform experience at an Amusement park.

Wearable technology: We developed the MagicBand – an RFID bracelet that lets guests pay for food and merchandise, be identified, and even help Cast Members locate the parents of lost children.

Time and location management: We incorporated time management in our Mobile app. If the waiting times areat each ride is taking more time, it suggests them to upgrade the ticket or guide them to go for another ride which is taking lesser time or direct them to go to other activities.

Artificial Intelligence: Artificial Intelligence (AI) offers a way for theme parks to have‘conversations’ with guests when people aren’t around implementing chat-bot in our mobile app.

Real time guest engagement on social media: Theme parks have come to realize that there is an opportunity to make the experience richer by incorporating the same technologies that people use at home and while at the park.
Manpower Management: Digital Business Transformation is disrupting businesses in every industry by breaking down barriers between people, businesses and things.
Project:  We implemented and automated manpower deployment application, which enables existing staffs to re-locate them based on Guest movement or crowded areas based on GPS application.”

Yogendra Singh, Head-IT/SAP- Barista Coffee Company Ltd.

“Digital transformation is nothing but imperative for all businesses, from the small to the large enterprises. We talk about DT in every keynote, panel discussion, article, or study related to how businesses can remain competitive and relevant as the world becomes increasingly digital. There is more confusion to understand what digital transformation means.

As we all know, due to technological advances, the business world keeps changing rapidly. As a result, customers themselves have changed significantly as well. In fact, these days the customer journey is dictated by today’s digital consumers. These new customers are tech-savvy and expect to receive efficient and seamless customer service within seconds and they are the main reason why digital transformation is so important for businesses. Digital Transformation is just a process to supplement the people with process and technology to drive any business in right and digital manner. In general terms, we define digital transformation as the integration of digital technology into all areas of a business resulting in fundamental changes to how businesses operate and how they deliver value to customers.

Digital transformation closes the gap between what digital customers already expect and what analogue businesses actually deliver. It is important to understand what digital means to your company – whether you are afinancial, agricultural, pharmaceutical, or retail institution – is essential.”

Rachna Tyagi, Sr. Global Technology Leader - British Telecom

“The challenge for CIOs is that deploying SD-WAN can be complicated because of all the factors that need to be considered. With legacy networks, there were limited options, so deployment was straightforward.

One of the aspects of SD-WAN is that businesses have more choice in flexibility in deployment, butthat comes with the burden of increased complexity. The challenge for today’s CIOs is to understandthe best way to move to SD-WAN quickly without the associated risk of trial and error and tweaking and tuning.

There has been much talk about Software Defined Networking (SDN) and how SDN benefits virtual environments and data centres. However an area that is often overlooked is how abstraction canapply to application performance and value across the wide area network (WAN).The WAN has always been about connecting users to applications and moving data more effectively over long distances. This includes connectivity for collaboration among enterprise users, clients, suppliers, and partners, as well as the movement of data over distance for disaster recovery and business continuity. While these requirements still exist, the adoption of virtualization and the cloud across traditional WAN architectures, such as MPLS, has introduced performance bottlenecks, thereby impairing user productivity when connecting to data centres and cloud applications from branch and remote office locations. As cloud initiatives gain momentum and traction, CIOs are increasingly revaluating their corporate WAN requirements.”

Manish Sinha, Global Application Manager - Busch Vacuum Pumps & Systems

“We control many things in a small as well as a mid-size organization, but we never pay attention to people creating hotspots. If by any chance it is not blocked, then it could be themost dangerous thing with the end user. No matter how many firewall you place or endpoints you control, generally this feature is not available in entry or mid-level UTM (Unified Threat management) and end points which means small and mid-size organizations wouldalways be on threat. The other impact on IT infrastructure is, due to poor vision ofmanagement related to IT Governance, where IT is costly affair for them and some of theorganizations are rigid for not spending on IT and putting their complete business at Risk.

Most of the time CIOs are in hurry to deliver and they forget to read and completely understand the tweaks, where they could be caught either by the auditor or management in case of any downtime or disaster. So when it comes to security at DC , we always get the shared security  so we have to keep this thing in mind as privacy has a cost and it pays during breaches when you alone on that network or in thesecurity layer. There is no such guarantee which is called Data Theft Protection, it is always an assurance and nobody is ready to signup indemnity bond or clause for losses.”

N Balasubramanian, GM &Head IT - Applications & Support - Cloudnine Group of Hospitals

“Digital Transformation at Cloudnine is a continuous journey, both on the commercial and clinical fronts. Fired by the visionary in its Founder n Chairman Dr Kishore and powered by the missionary in its Founder and MD - Mr Rohit, the execution is propelled bythe CXO group led by Ravi Ganesh as CEO.

In pursuit of its vision to provide premium quality health care to women and children, constantly excelling to surpass the higher than the highest standards set in maternal and neonatal care, Cloudniine embraces and adopts technology to the core, in all itsoperations, continuously, extending best customer experience, most satisfying customer service and impeccable quality clinical care.

Some of the Clinical – Digital areas where digital cutting edge technologies like IOT,Cloud and Mobility have been widely adopted include Foetal Monitoring, Neo Natalintensive care and Paediatrics’ vitals monitoring with due integration with the HIS and updating the Customers’ Electronics Health Records. The concepts have been proved and these projects have been successfully piloted moving towards commercialization.

All the three projects have one common goal – Saving Life – at different critical stages, namely before delivery, during delivery and after delivery. Cloudnine believes every Life is precious and it is its duty to save, protect and comfort each one at all costs.”

Vivek Khare, Director-IT, Dailyhunt

“Technology is making significant changes in sports– changes that are global, effective, and most of the times, positive; improving the quality of game in terms of safety, competition, and access for both the players and the fans. Innovation has become a vital part of progress in sports. All this progress has been given one term to sum it up and that is ‘Sports Tech’.

Smart Sports Equipment- A certain degree of an athlete or sportsman performance depends on the quality of equipment he or she plays with. 2019 is going to be the era of smart equipment domination.

360 Cameras to do the Judgment - The human eye can never be as accurate as high-quality lenses. Thanks to the advanced technology, we now have better ‘replay options’ which help umpires and referees to make the right call. Although the replay technology isn’t new with the assistance of VR and 360 degrees camera, the chances in error of judgment are almost zero.

Healthcare in India has moved in leaps and bounds in the adoption of technology and Hospitals have managed to keep up pace with the tech adoption to improve the overall engagement and clinical outcomes to the patient but a lot more is needed.  IoT in the form of wearable devices is a direct form of tech adoption to reduce the gap between the Hospital and Home in a patient’s life in addition to the other partners like insurers.”

Saurabh Gupta, Head IT, Domestic Textiles - Aditya Birla Group

“Data is important for transformation; one cannot lead a transformation without getting the basic data in place. What cannot be measured cannot be improved, many companies do not measure the basic data, it has become a chore to collect data and people look at data in a scant manner. There is a massive data available out there that can be collected in a digital world and that is where Blockchain helps us.

Digital in manufacturing has many benefits: improving agility, building scale process efficiency, accelerating innovation, improving accuracy, reliability and traceability. IoT platform were used here and data from SAP ERP systems and PLC’s were used. Most manufacturing data and sales data have variability, digital helps to arrow down on that variability. In our business we have witnessed significant increase in productivity of workers and increase in asset utilization by leveraging digital platform in the journey of Industry 4.0, Analytics.

Digital in manufacturing has delivered a 15% improvement in productivity pit to port, a 60% drop in safety violations and has built a proactive safety culture according to their case studies. Digital tracking helps to identify the people and thus one can take action – Technologies used over here were Machine Learning using Video Analytics. We have to get dramatically different on the digital journey in Textiles can lead the way.”

Munender Soperna, CIO -Dr Lal Path Labs Ltd.

“The healthcare scenario throughout the globe presents a contrasting landscape. At one end there are advanced medical devices, qualified medical professionals, and well-equipped hospitals and clinics; at the other end there is the rising cost of medical-care and ageing population trying desperately to fit in the complexity of the future.

In the midst of all, there are lives whose hopes and struggles totally depend on how efficiently the healthcare companies combat the healthcare challenges and reduce this contrast to deliver better medical care.

But before that, it is crucial that we acknowledge the healthcare industry challenges from multiple aspects. This list of top 10 challenges healthcare service providers face will help us in doing so. The list of healthcare industry challenges today goes like this -
1.    Harnessing Advanced Health Technology    2.    Information and Integrated Health Services
3.    Cybersecurity                4.    Rising Healthcare Costs
5.    Healthcare Regulatory Changes        6.    External Market Disruption

To harness the potential of healthcare technology to transform the health systems and develop a connected healthcare environment, healthcare leaders and clinicians need to forge closer ties with medical manufacturers and software application development companies. They can share information and develop new business models and scenarios that can improve the adoption of new technology in healthcare.”

Avneesh Kumar Vats, Deputy General Manager-IT, Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL)

“Energy is essential for the growth of all human beings and most of the energy we consume comes from hydrocarbons, with crude oil being the dominant source. It makes adverse impact on the environment. Hence the best way to reduce that impact is to use the energy efficiently. I work with the company “Energy Efficiency Services Ltd“ with the vision of Universal access to sustainable energy solutions to enable a low carbon future, with significant economic and social impact. Chirag Boonlia, Group CTO - Embassy Group

“While it was clear that digital technology will transform most industries, there were a number of challenges that needed to be understood. These include factors such as the pace of changing customer expectations & cultural transformation.

In the discovery phase we ideated the transformation at our homes with technology. We wanted to be the innovators in embracing the transformation and wanted our customers also to feel the same.

We associated with a global partner Amazon and introduced Alexa for our homes and launched Alexa integrated Smart Homes. This gives the residents an unlimited technology experience for their everyday conveniences such as shopping, setting alarms, reminders, paying utility bills, control over electrical gadgets usage and much more with just a voice command. This not only enables a secure environment but also allows customers to remotely monitor their home. Through personalization of all these we could get the customers at the centre of every digital experience.

To facilitate the convenience of buying & sharing information to prospective residents we introduced a portal. The customers could go to the portal directly and check the facilities and choose the requisite options for them. We kept the entire process transparent and paperless. The innovative 3D booking engine gives a complete view of one’s home and allows operating and controlling remotely and online."

Sandip Pradhan, Chief-IT, Exide Industries Limited

“A successful SAP S4 HANA implementation is about the powerful next generation applications and analytics brought by organization. This will choose the game changing in-memory platform with advanced analytical processing. Every project manager wants to be successful. The implementation failure may be fatal to the organization. Here are some mantras to keep in mind when one is starting the high-impact S4 HANA project -

Experienced and Right Implementation Partner: SAP systems are difficult and costly to implement. A large portion of the overall implementation cost attributes to consulting fees. Therefore, it becomes crucial to select the right partner and use consultants effectively to keep the overall costs low.

Formation of right minded Core Team: Core Team is the pillar and is crucial to start-up the project. The formation of core team begins with selecting the right project manager and staffing the rest of the team. Right team means the right minded people not like-minded people for example a group of negative minded individuals are also like-minded.

Work Collaboratively: Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success. One has to establish a partnership among Core Team members, IT Team, related service providers and implementation partner. At the end of the day, project team will speak in the same language then only will get fruitful output otherwise not.”

Upkar Singh, IT Leader - Fidelity Information Services India Pvt Ltd

“The scale of customer base in India perspective is –

•    India will become the third largest domestic banking sector by 2050, after China and the US, according to a report
•    With India’s working age population set to increase over the next decade, it promises exponential growth.
•    According to IBEF data, India’s mobile wallet industry is estimated to grow at a CAGR of 150 percent to reach USD 4.4 billion by 2022
•    Whereas mobile wallet transactions will touch USD 490 billion by 2022.

To take advantage of this growth, the Indian Banking and FSI industry is placing its bets on disruptive technology such as RPA, blockchain, AR/VR and AI. The efforts are still in pilot phase for banking players. But with the sector’s rising interests towards capturing customer share, technology is set to play a leading part in shaping the industry’s future.

AI may be the next big thing for many industry sectors, but banks are veteran users of this technology.AI can serve customer in few areas such as - Building customer trust and confidence, Cost and operations optimization, Improving compliance with regulations.

AI is rapidly reshaping what’s necessary to build a successful business in financial services. In the future, financial institutions will be built on scale of data and the ability to leverage that data.”

Ashish Bansal, Director – ERP Operations, APAC - GlaxoSmithkline Pharmaceuticals Ltd

“Blockchain is one of the most revolutionary tech-industry disruptions in the recent past. This emerging technology has a pool of opportunities for corporate, institutions and for technology professionals for business enhancement and paves the way for new job opportunities.

Proven use-case and key differentiators -

The key differentiators for Blockchain technology is its decentralized mechanism, its openness and availability over the public platform, availability of permission (private Blockchain) and permission less (public Blockchain) option, smart contracts and its lightning speed of transaction. There are some clear and important used cases for various companies and industries for Blockchain in India across Healthcare, Pharma, Insurance, Education, Finance, Gaming, Real estate and even to supply chain, I literally mean almost everywhere.

a.       Healthcare, Pharma and Insurance
b.      Financial Services
c.      Gaming World
d.      Government Services”

Suresh Kumar, Partner & CIO - Grant Thornton

“New regulations and legislations are coming into effect across the globe impacting businesses. One of the major regulations related to Data privacy and security is the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which came into effect from May 25, 2018. A recent update about GDPR is UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office has imposed substantial fines on two large organizations for data breaches. Firstly, a fine of US $230 million on British Airways for a security incident that led to theft of customer data in September, 2018. Another fine of US $ 124 million has been imposed on Marriott International for a data breach at Starwood which it acquired in 2016. Both the penalties are very high and severely impacted these organizations.

In India, right to privacy is a fundamental right and it is necessary to protect personal data as an essential facet of informational privacy through“THE PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION BILL, 2018”. This regulation is very similar to GDPR and places great responsibility on businesses. Similar to GDPR, there are provisions of hefty penalties up to 2% of worldwide revenue of INR 5 Crores, whichever is higher.

Adherence to industry compliance regulations is increasing year-on-year. Regulations such as the PCI DSS, HIPPA for retailers/travel industry and healthcare organizations respectively require IT administrators to implement controls necessary to support their compliance framework.”

Sanjay Chowdhry, CIO - Hamdard Laboratories India

“Best Practices followed at Hamdard Labs -
•    Sponsorships of the project should exist in the organization before it kicks off preferable from the top management.
•    Steering committee should be created to track the project timelines and budgets.
•    Project scope, milestones, final outcome should be clearly defined.
•    Plan B should be properly defined in case of failure of Plan A.
•    Implementation of Internal Core Team should be done by picking at least one member from each department across organization.
•    CIO should take interview of each member to check his/her aptitude level and their respective business process knowledge.
•    Members once selected and becoming part of the core implementation team should not be allowed to do and perform his/her daily routine tasks.
•    Core Team Members should concentrate only on the project implementation till the project is completed and go-live.”

Rohit Kachroo, CISO -IndiaBulls Group

“Cyber Security has become the inevitable requirement of every organization and being a conglomerate with fast paced changes and embracing the latest technological advancements, this obligation expands manifold in the case of our organization. Growing business dependency on technology and epidemic spread of cyber threat have evolved a very complex situation for cyber security team as ensuring cyber security, aiming to fulfill the business as well as various regulator's interest within the diversified businesses environment is a very daunting exercise.

Usage of newer technologies to serve customers has grown rapidly in almost all the industry. Current competition is only about staying ahead but it is also about foreseeing the future trends. Being a financial organization, we need to be extra vigilant in terms of safeguarding the sensitive customer information and obligate the compliance and that is why we are the early technology adopters.

The proliferation of disruptive technologies such as mobile, cloud and social media has been increasingly impacting organizational security protection mechanisms which drive the security need of IT Infrastructure and Information Assets.

Aiming to ingrain the security posture, to insulate from the persistent but evolving cyber security threats, within the organizational fabric requires strong determination propelled with organizational core value.”

Chander Khanduja, CIO - Luminous Power Technologies Pvt. Ltd.

“Digital Revolution is the next big thing which happened in the world after the industrial revolution. The word itself - revolution says it all, either be a part of it or may not be relevant anymore. Similarly, our business world is going through this stage. We have seen business environment changing around us with demonetization and GST; these big changes impacted in big way.

These are exciting times for all CIOs, CTOs, CMOS, CFOs and CIOs. Every organization is talking about the digital strategy now and all CXOs are a part of this game changing strategy. Few years back SMAC was the buzzword for all the corporates - social, mobility, analytics and cloud, now IoT and Industry 4.0 got added to this and it is SMACII.

The biggest motivation for further investments in digital factories is efficiency, 98% expect it to improve. Some of the technologies they are relying on to get there includes connectivity technologies, using sensors and Manufacturing Execution Systems, and a whole range of data-driven approaches, including predictive maintenance and process improvement, visualization and optimization. For these technologies, usage is expected to double over the next five years.

As a digital strategy, organizations are focusing on three Ps - Digitize People, Process and Products. This is essential for organizations to remain relevant in this regard.”

Prashant Singh, Director IT & CIO -Max Healthcare

“Hospitals in India currently attempt digitization with manual transcription or scanning. Such processes are often resource intensive, expensive and time consuming. BLK Super Speciality Hospital went live with an AI-powered data capture technology that allows clinicians to instantly digitize their case sheets using a digital pen and encoded paper. Smart, contextual triggers based on what the clinician has advised are sent to 7 departments in real-time: Admissions, CT, MRI, Sonography, Follow-Up, Lab and Pharmacy.

The solution proposed was successfully implemented and integrated with the existing HIS. There was zero downtime and training per user on average lasted 15 minutes. Clinician compliance was 100% as users did not need to change their behaviour or alter existing workflows. Specialty-specific and clinician-friendly structured templates have further increased compliance and the volume of data captured, ensuring guidance and consistency in following clinical protocol. Clinicians can now retrieve patient history simply by tapping their pen on paper.”

GB Shaikh, GM Enterprise Software Architecture & Cloud Strategy - Nissan Motor Corporation

“There is no doubt that mobile network's contribution to the maximization of well-being of humankind on the Globe has been there ever since the mobile phone ecosystem evolved. It has touched human’s way of life in every possible way and brought about a paradigm shift in the way we conduct our economic transactions which led to an unprecedented growth in Global GDP. At the same time, every technology innovations, given its potential benefits, brings with it a baggage of issues which are sometimes economical, environmental, public health, social & global unrest etc.

5G is a millimeter wave technology, despite growing concerns around human health and environmental safety due to the dangerous effects of Electromagnetic radiation (EMF); it continues to be promoted and installed even though the telecom industry has provided no scientific evidence that it is absolutely safe for Human Health and Environment.

5G cell towers are more dangerous than other cell towers for two main reasons. First, compared to earlier versions, 5G is ultra-high frequency and ultra-high intensity. 1G, 2G, 3G and 4G use between 1 to 5 gigahertz frequency. 5G uses between 24 to 90 gigahertz frequencies, within the RF Radiation portion of the electromagnetic spectrum; the higher the frequency the more dangerous it is to living organisms.”

D V Seshu Kumar, Asst. Vice President - IT Head, Orient Cement Limited, a Group of CK Birla

“Many technologies and solutions are built to make business automation like Mobility, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Social and Cloud etc. Organizations are more customer focused, agile and interactive. For any organization there will be several internal and external factors that contribute towards the need for investing in digital change. However, normally the theme is applying technology to create better operations and strategic business differentiation and improve performance.

Digital transformation is a major organizational change supported by technology; it is only possible through people. It is worrying that some of the organizations are either resistant to transformational change or having mixed views on the subject. It can be interpreted differently in different organizations because they have different levels of digital maturity, values and visions.

There are many challenges in digital transformation journey in the Manufacturing Industry, particularly with old equipments. It is difficult to deploy IoT or any other solutions alongside legacy equipment. Many Industries have still not exposed their SCADA systems to the external world. The reason is that legacy systems were designed during the time by keeping specified requirements in mind. As a result, the infrastructure is not suited to the modern IoT or big data approach of large volumes of data transmitted in near-real-time.”

Sayed Peerzade, Group CIO - Reliance Big Entertainment

“Digital Transformation has happened for almost a decade now.Highlighting the points on Analytics, our journey, where we are today and how it has benefitted our organization, can be a benchmark of any customer facing industry

•    Analytics helping business:Analytics has been adapted primarily for all the Digital entertainment businesses, predominantly mobile gaming, OTT and casual gaming aspects, OTT, Retail & now extending to Film entertainment as well.

•    Analytics Journey & some of the adapted solutions: It has been a very long and interesting journey so far. Media & Entertainment is not an easy industry for CIOs. This is the medium, where business is getting disrupted rapidly because of Digital wave. Large scale transformations are required to run the business ahead of competition. If you are behind in technology then you are going to vanish.

For our business which is primarily B2C, Content, quality and customer experience is directly proportional to revenues. One of the primary objective of bringing Digital transformations is consumer experience. Since we have a range of digital businesses with almost 100 million user bases across globe, getting user insights on all of the products and getting used across was of prime importance. This is where Analytics helps. Initially we self-designed the same as differed- analytics setup. Now we are having live analytics, where we are able to see what is happening in the product and user behaviour on live bases.”

Arijit Dasgupta, Senior Manager - IT, Rupa & Co. Ltd.

“The Manufacturing and Retail industries are realizing the advantages of mobile applications in driving productivity and optimization, lowering costs, hiking efficiencies and enabling better field services, however compared to other industries, enterprise mobility is not the top priority for most executives in the manufacturing sector.

Rupa & Co. Ltd. has perfectly built a series of custom solutions, have released over time and focused on the highest-value features first but took a lot of time to design and create. Its existing solutions have been tested with actual usages of it for a couple of years already. Usually building custom software takes the organization’s attention away from its mission. The mobility application in Rupa & Co. has replaced all of these developments finally.

Actually, after integrating with SAP at the back end, mobility application has already been introduced at the frontend with some Fiori objects in SAP and by getting data from BW, we have started getting lot of useful gateways of enhancements in generating various decisive reports and scope adding interfaces. The solutions tend to have communities of users. These communities include experts, forums, and knowledge transfers that build supporting products for quick customization via API or other methods running successfully within the organization.”

Rahber Siddiqui, Chief Technology Officer - Sakshem IT Solutions Pvt. Ltd.

“Initially we were a small department of Glaze Trading India Pvt. Ltd., but now with the complete governance and process adherence along with the usage of high-end techniques like Prince2 technology, Agile and various others, we have established as a full-fledged IT company – Sakshem IT Pvt. Ltd. The ultimate motive of our company is to make robust business applications that can be easily managed on low maintenance cost basis.

At present we end to end handle Glaze as one of our esteemed customer. As an IT startup we initiated an Open Source drive for developing our business applications so as to reduce the maintenance costs.Glaze earlier used .NET technology with license cost but then in 2017 we adapted this Open Source drive to reduce the overall cost ofmaintenance and licenses. We evaluated the Open Sourcetechnology for new projects and application development and therefore today Glaze has its successfully running e-commerce platform on an open source technology. Along with this commerce portal we further have created four major projects. It has been a learning journey on ascertaining the mobility towards this Open Source technology.

Within two years of revolution the Sakshem IT team has been gaining confidence and becoming competent enough on this platform and now with time IT is delivering various projects with this drive.”

Virendra Bansal, Group CIO - SAR Group

“Digital transformation and automation reduce processing cost and enhances the cost efficiency in the manufacturing industry. Furthermore, the enhancement of a product through low-cost manufacturing also helps in the quicker launch of the product and high revenue generation. The implementation of IoT in the manufacturing industry helps in detecting any error at an early stage, which further lessens errors and mistakes, which in turn mitigates the number of products returned to the company.

One of the major benefits of integrating digital transformation, such as robotics and IoTs is that the robots can work 24x7, wherein it can work without having any glitch or error. As a result, it is likely to have a positive impact on market growth over the forecast period. In addition, on-demand manufacturing trend is expected to grow and the industry 4.0 is expected to help in making efficient decisions and enhance supply chain operations.Improved efficiency, and a reduction in production costs, when compared to conventional manufacturing processes, is boosting the adoption of automation technology.

The fourth industrial revolution encompasses a wide array of technologies across the value chain, wherein it is considered as the information and automation hub. However, the rapid adoption of automation and digital transformation in the manufacturing industry is demanding high skilled labors to handle big data and operate required machinery.”

Viloo Williams, CIO & Head of Digital Transformation, Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital

“Vital clinical monitoring and other medical information will be available at the patient’s fingertip on cellular devices, cutting the endless delays and wait-time for reports. Doctors will be able to increase their medical reach to many more patients remotely using tele-consultation and tele-medicine with a high-speed performance driven network which is the need of the hour for a seamless connectivity between the Home, Insurer, a Central Health Hub and Hospital, and this will be fulfilled well with 5G connectivity.

Reliance Jio is playing a very big role in the 5G Fibre connectivity space.  5G connectivity is one of the key factors that will drive the Healthcare adoption of IoT as it will ensure high speed network performance at affordable costs. Reliance Health Hub is another state-of-the-art platform that will drive the Central collation of patient data and make it easier for the patient to access his data from across multiple care providers, anytime and anywhere.

We at Reliance Foundation are focused on the use of connected health and remote health approaches to facilitate the delivery of care within and outside of Reliance Foundation Hospital.Use of data and evidence-based approaches guide us on how care is provided and outcomes monitored.  Use of AI (in its broadest terms) to drive performance and quality is a key focus area now.”
