Dr. R.K. Thukral, Project Director said, "Hindi belt of India supports about 46 per cent of India's population and occupies about 44 per cent of its geographical area. This region has a massive impact on Indian economy, demography, polity and social economy, and plays an important role in shaping modern India. Hindi belt of India, in fact, is the heartland of India."
