Delhi’s IGI Airport (IGIA) has received the ACI ASQ award at an award ceremony in Istanbul after it was acknowledged as the second best in 25–40 Million Passengers Per Annum (MPPA) category in the World. The award was received by a nine-member Delhi Airport team with representatives from DIAL, CISF, AOC and Air India.
IGIA has made rapid progress in enhancing the service quality at IGIA which has resulted in steady improvement in rankings over the last six years since takeover by DIAL.
I Prabhakara Rao, CEO, DIAL, said, Representing an Indian airport at a globally recognized forum was really an emotional moment, something that we as IGIA community, are really proud of. This recognition is testimony to the efforts of all our employees and partners who have consistently met the expectations of the Industry. Not just that, they have delivered a memorable and distinct experience to our customers which has enabled us in retaining the number 2 position for the second consecutive year. It gives us immense pleasure to receive this award and we would like to convey our sincere gratitude to our passengers. I am thankful to the
IGIA family for their support in all our endeavours and we will continue to strive for the best and deliver a world-class airport experience to our passengers.
The IGI Airport now has an annual capacity of over 60 million passengers, including state-of- the-art Terminal-3 (T3). Around 34.2 million passengers passed through IGIA in 2012. It handled almost 550,000 tonnes of cargo and over 3,00,000 aircraft movements during the same period.
