Dell launches two new rugged laptops in India for field workers in extreme conditions

Dell Pro Rugged 13 Extreme and Dell Pro Rugged 14 pair military-grade durability with AI-ready performance, Wi-Fi 7 and optional 5G, starting at INR 2.66 lakh, and are now available in India

Dell Technologies has announced two new rugged laptops, the Dell Pro Rugged 13 Extreme and the Dell Pro Rugged 14, built for field workers who need technology that performs in the harshest conditions. The devices are aimed at people ranging from utility technicians troubleshooting infrastructure in extreme weather to public safety officers coordinating response efforts in the field.

The company says managing a fleet of devices across distributed field operations demands technology that won’t let workers down. The new laptops are meant to give IT teams a standardized, manageable platform that combines field-grade durability, AI-ready performance and advanced connectivity for large-scale deployments.

Built for demanding field conditions

Designed for workers across local governments, public safety, manufacturing, oil and gas, transportation and utilities, both laptops are MIL-STD-810H certified and can operate in temperatures from -20°F to 145°F. Their displays support gloved and wet multi-touch, so they can be used with protective equipment or in wet conditions.

Both are powered by Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors, which offload AI and background tasks to keep the systems responsive during long shifts. They offer optional private 5G, Wi-Fi 7 and GPS for connectivity and location tracking in remote areas, while hot-swappable batteries support uninterrupted use through the longest shifts. A camera of up to 5MP with RGB+IR is available on both models.

The laptops also ship with Rugged Control Center, built-in software that gives workers access to critical device settings, including GPS module configuration, custom hardware shortcuts and device customization.

The Dell Pro Rugged 13 Extreme is billed as the most powerful and smallest 13-inch fully rugged AI PC. It carries an IP66 rating for protection against dust and water ingress and has been drop-tested from six feet (around 1.8 meters). Intel Arc integrated graphics support visual and data-heavy workflows, and up to 64GB of LPDDR5X memory handles heavy multitasking. Removable SSD and self-encrypting drive options give organizations control over security and compliance. Its 13.3-inch FHD display reaches 1,400 nits, keeping it readable in direct sunlight.

The Dell Pro Rugged 14 is described as the smallest and most powerful 14-inch semi-rugged AI PC. Weighing around 2.13 kg, it offers three-foot (close to one meter) drop protection and an IP53 rating against dust, dirt and water exposure. An NVIDIA RTX PRO 500 Blackwell Generation Laptop GPU supports visualization, data analysis and AI workloads in the field, while LPCAMM2 memory of up to 64GB makes upgrades and swaps easier for IT teams. The 14-inch 16:10 FHD display delivers up to 1,100 nits. A redesigned vehicle dock with quad passthrough improves connectivity and compatibility with third-party docking solutions, which is useful for workers who operate mainly from the road.

Security and manageability for large fleets

Both laptops include TPM 2.0, contacted and contactless smart card readers, fingerprint readers and IR cameras for Windows Hello facial recognition. Dell SafeID with ControlVault and BIOS-level defenses, now further hardened with quantum-resistant protections, are what Dell says make these the world’s most secure rugged PCs. For IT teams managing large fleets, the laptops support cloud-based deployment, management and security tools, backed by Dell ProSupport and predictive maintenance tools to minimize downtime.

“Field workers keep critical operations running no matter the conditions, and their technology needs to do the same. Our new Dell Pro Rugged laptops deliver the performance, durability and connectivity that keep workers productive when it matters most, with the standardization and security IT teams need for small to large-scale deployments,” said Charlie Walker, head of product, Dell Pro Precision and Dell Pro Rugged, Dell Technologies.

India focus, pricing and availability

Highlighting the India opportunity, Indrajit Belgundi, Sr. Director and General Manager, Client Solutions Group - India, Dell Technologies, said: “India’s infrastructure buildout, manufacturing growth and logistics expansion are happening at a pace and scale few markets can match — and most of that work happens in the field. The new Dell Pro Rugged laptops give IT teams a platform they can deploy and manage at scale, keeping frontline workers productive wherever the job takes them.”

Both laptops are available today. The Dell Pro Rugged 14 (PR514260) starts at INR 2,65,990 including taxes, while the Dell Pro Rugged 13 Extreme (PR713260) starts at INR 3,36,990 including taxes.
