Intending to become a major player in the global IT landscape, the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) has announced its progressive operation towards scripting a structural change in the Indian software sector. The ESC’s new approach is based on the fact that India’s share in the worldwide IT spending, as on today, is less than 2.35 per cent, not commensurate with the potential and its inherent capabilities.
Vinod Sharma, Chairman, ESC, stated, “Our strategy is to move up in the value chain in the developed markets like the US, Western Europe, Japan and China and increase market share in the emerging markets such as Latin America, Africa, Middle East and CIS.”
The twin focus of the two-day show, Indiasoft organized by the ESC and promoted by the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India, are to showcase India’s innovative IT products and the cutting-edge IT solutions, particularly in the fields of engineering design, embedded technology, R&D and to evolve a strategy for increasing India’s share in the IT global market, said DK Sareen, Executive Director, ESC.
ESC’s rationale behind organizing Indiasoft, which has entered the 14th edition, is to strengthen linkages and exports of the SME sector in India by giving them a strong platform for clinching businesses at the least cost by bringing the foreign buyers into the country.
Indiasoft is expected to bring together 700 delegates 400 from abroad from 60 countries and 300 from India. Over 150 Indian IT companies, mainly from the small and medium sector, will display their products and innovative solutions to the discerning buyers. The B2B and B2C meets will be addressed by several IT experts, policy-makers attached to the IT industry and IT entrepreneurs from all over the world.
