India has been hosting Extreme Networks Development Center for the past eight years in Chennai. "The reason why it was chosen is because we see India has a great talent pool. People are passionate here. We started with 8 people and today the strength has reached 120. As part of expansion, we are going to appoint 65 more people in a couple of years," informs Frank Blohm, Sr. Vice-President, Worldwide Operations and Chief Quality Officer, Extreme Networks.
To further strengthen its market position, Extreme Networks has recently appointed accomplished Channel Veteran Theresa Caragol as Vice-President of Global Channels. "She would define, streamline and drive partner activities for Enterprise Campus, Cloud & Data Center Portfolio across the globe," adds Frank.
Talking about the Indian market, Chiradeep Rao, Regional Director, India & SAARC, shared that BYOD is a "Talk of the Town". When it comes to security, he shared that security measures are coming at the application levels. “No two companies have same infrastructure and same security policies. Some are conservative and some are liberal. At the other enterprise customers it all begins with talks and a lot of understanding of their real concerns and customized solution building,” he added. For Extreme Networks, this concept is hot for the education sector because of less data security concerns. “But this does not mean that BYOD is no-no for other business verticals”.
The reason for Frank’s visit is to attend the auspicious ceremony of development center expansion and meet the India team. Next the VP of Global channels is expected to visit India in this calendar year.
