With a fairly small footprint, Fujitsu ScanSnap S300 is an automatic document feed scanner, which has the capability to offer a 10-sheet paper tray capable of handling various sizes from A4 right down to business cards. With merely 3 pounds of weight and measuring 11.2 inches by 3.7 inches, the S300 is really a cute little device. Because of its small size, it is highly mobile. It can easily fit into a briefcase. Its compact design is also great for those of us who have small desk space, and its sleek design does not make it an eyesore. The biggest technology revolution is that it is powered either by AC or USB. For those who have restricted usage of scanner for example at home or home office, it is a perfect solution.
Although it is not TWAIN compatible, yet the usage pattern at home or SoHo would not have any problem as their usage format is largely restricted to making a paper document digital and storing or sharing it in PDF format. This is what this device is meant for and it delivers its performance with ease. Unlike other scanners, it does not take time for warming up – almost works instantly once you open the lid and start giving command.
All quality and configuration settings are managed via the software, and once everything is set up you can simply place a wad of paper into the ADF tray and hit the scan button. At default quality settings, it ploughs through an A4 page in just a few seconds. The documents can also be turned into searchable PDFs on the fly.
The biggest advantage is its speed. It yields documents at a speed of 8 ppm. And, it scans front and back simultaneously. So, theoretically, you can double the speed if you have documents to be scanned both the side.
