Reliance Communications has launched "Go Green", a tree planting initiative in Bangalore as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility programme. Over 500 saplings including Neem, Honge and Silver Oak were planted in the premises of the Government High School, Immadihalli, in Whitefield Bangalore. The RCOM "Go Green" Campaign was inaugurated by the Guest of Honour, J. Crasta, Co-Chairman, Southern Regional Council (ASSOCHAM) and Ex-President, FKCCI.
Over 200 RCOM employees, their families and students of the Government High School participated in this programme. A painting competition was also organized the same day at the School to promote the spirit of thinking and living green.
On this occasion, R. Swaminathan, Karnataka Hub Head, Reliance Communications, said, "We are delighted to spend quality time on a noble initiative like tree planting which is essential in today's context. We are committed to conserving the environment in and around us with many more such initiatives. This is the second consecutive year RCOM has embarked on the responsibility towards a greener earth, the earlier initiative being planting 500 saplings at the Bangalore University campus at Gnana Bharathi in Kengeri last year. With the rising global warming, every step that each one of us can take to preserve the environment by adopting eco-friendly measures will contribute and make a difference."
