The India Council for Integral Education (ICIE) has announced that it is seeking proposals from schools, public and not-for-profit private institutions for the US$ 1 million (Rs. 4.5 crores) Education Innovation Fund for India (EIFI). The Education Innovation Fund for India is sponsored by HP through its Office of Global Social Innovation and managed by the ICIE, a unit of the Sri Aurobindo Society.

"Our intention is to offer the largest educational grant challenge in India. We have designed the EIFI to provide significant support to innovative educational projects that will help India forge ahead in the future," said David Morris, Director, ICIE.

"As we move into a global knowledge economy, education in science, engineering, technology and medicine and new, inclusive ways of learning is crucial for students in the 21st century. Innovation in learning approaches within these fields is the key to better equipping students to tap the economic and social opportunity the knowledge economy brings", said Jeannette Weisschuh, Director-Education Initiatives, Office of Global Social Innovation, HP.

The RFP process for the EIFI begins on August 30, 2011 and will end on October 30, 2011.  Grant proposals can be made via e-mail or post. The Advisory Council of the Education Innovation Fund in India, and a national jury of eminent educators, senior administrators, and prominent citizens in the area of educational and social change will evaluate and select the Grant Awardees. The final awards will be announced on January 26, 2012 in New Delhi.
