“It is a scary thought that market slowdown is going to take everything on its stride” - I do not subscribe to this statement given by some industry veteran. Market slowdown is a natural process like tide in the ocean. It comes and goes, and to lose patience at this time is a catastrophe. You might lose the entire efforts that you have put in during your entire life.
For the IT industry: in particular, the IT channel market is at the stage of panting for breather. It is natural but it is not going to finish everything. We know because of US market downturn, India is facing the difficulty.
Think of Taiwan and China, which are completely, in heart and soul, dependant on thus country what will happen to them. They do not seem to be in very comfortable position though but they are not showing it, because they know where they stand now and what is their genesis?
I sometime was back in Taiwan for a technology session and what it understood from that is that the entire manufacturing market in China and Taiwan is eyeing at SAARC region and India is the largest country in that. They are going to change their strategy and start investing as the US companies were doing or something of similar kind.
Last but not the least, India’s position is still better than other countries in the West. So things for us are slow now but not completely out of control. I have been receiving the letters from our readers that I am painting rosy pictures of the market. Let me clarify: it is not the rosy picture, it is the positive mindset and the market is not too bad for us either. People are still going to malls, still buying mobile phones, PCs, etc. It is like a storm in the sky and will pass very soon.
