The new national programme will equip students, professionals and educators with practical skills to develop and manage AI agents, automation workflows and multi-agent systems, strengthening India’s talent pipeline for the next phase of AI adoption.
The National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), has partnered with Intel India to launch the India Agentic AI Skilling Initiative. The programme is aimed at preparing students, working professionals and educators for an emerging generation of artificial intelligence systems that can perform tasks with greater autonomy.
Unlike conventional generative AI tools that primarily respond to user prompts, agentic AI is designed to plan, make decisions and execute tasks with limited human intervention. As enterprises increasingly explore AI agents for automation and productivity, the initiative seeks to help learners develop the practical capabilities needed to work with these systems.
The programme has been structured around two courses — Agentic AI for Everyone and Engineering Agentic AI Systems — catering to learners with different levels of technical expertise.

Two programmes target different skill levels
The Agentic AI for Everyone course provides an introduction to AI agents, workflow automation and multi-agent systems. It is designed to help participants understand how agentic technologies can be applied to improve productivity, streamline business processes and support decision-making.
The course also introduces learners to the creation and management of AI-driven workflows through no-code platforms. This approach is intended to make agentic AI accessible to participants who may not have extensive programming experience, while providing practical exposure to designing and governing automated AI workflows.
The second programme, Engineering Agentic AI Systems, takes a more technical approach. It is aimed at learners interested in developing and deploying customised AI agents. Participants will work with no-code and low-code tools alongside programming-based frameworks to understand how advanced agentic systems are built.
The curriculum covers key elements across the AI-agent lifecycle, including system architecture, tool integration, orchestration, memory and deployment. This is expected to provide learners with a stronger foundation for building AI solutions that can operate across more complex tasks and workflows.
Focus on industry-ready AI talent
NIELIT and Intel India said the initiative is intended to expand access to practical, industry-aligned and future-ready agentic AI education across the country. The programme also seeks to strengthen the connection between academic learning and the skills required for real-world AI implementation.
The initiative comes as India continues to expand its focus on developing a skilled technology workforce capable of supporting AI-led transformation. By combining foundational learning with practical exposure to AI agents and automation, the programme aims to prepare learners for evolving roles across technology and business environments.
The broader objective is to strengthen India’s position as a competitive global destination for AI talent. By helping students, professionals and educators move from understanding AI concepts to applying agentic systems in practical scenarios, the initiative seeks to support the country’s next phase of AI-driven growth.
