Deeptanshu ‘Deep’ Prasad, a Toronto-based CEO of Indian origin, reported being shot at twice near his San Francisco hotel early Sunday morning. Sharing his ordeal on X, Prasad described the harrowing experience of being pursued by unidentified individuals after the first round of gunfire. As he reached his hotel, they fired again while he stood with an employee.
According to Prasad, he saw the bullet’s impact, while the hotel staff member identified the weapon as a Glock. Despite clear evidence, he accused the San Francisco Police Department of failing to take the case seriously, allegedly misclassifying the incident as fireworks without conducting a thorough investigation.
Expressing his frustration, Prasad criticized the city’s safety conditions and regretted not opting for an Uber instead of walking. He described the attack as deeply unsettling, reinforcing concerns about crime in San Francisco.
While standing firm on his claims, Prasad admitted there was a slight possibility of misidentification but emphasized the necessity of a proper probe. He urged authorities to examine the hotel’s CCTV footage to confirm the sequence of events.
The police have since begun reviewing surveillance material, though questions remain about the handling of the case and the city’s broader security issues.
