This initiative also aligns with the ‘Made in India’ mission, aimed at nurturing homegrown capabilities, generating employment, and boosting indigenous technological development
Keysight Technologies has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Society for Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering & Research (SAMEER), a leading R&D institution under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), to jointly promote innovation in 6G technology and healthcare solutions across India.
The collaboration aims to establish a healthcare-focused Center of Excellence and a dedicated research lab to accelerate India's role in the next generation of wireless communication and medical technologies. With the global race toward 6G heating up, both organizations emphasized the importance of strengthening India’s technical expertise and ecosystem to meet future demands in both strategic and civilian sectors.
Under the agreement, Keysight will support SAMEER in developing state-of-the-art laboratories that can facilitate advanced 6G research across Indian institutions. A key objective of the partnership is to foster cutting-edge innovation in areas such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technology and medical electronics, reinforcing the country’s ambitions to lead in healthcare tech.
This initiative also aligns with the ‘Made in India’ mission, aimed at nurturing homegrown capabilities, generating employment, and boosting indigenous technological development.
By combining Keysight’s global experience in testing and measurement with SAMEER’s deep domain knowledge in microwave electronics, the partnership is set to serve as a catalyst for developing critical technologies that address the nation’s future needs in communication and healthcare.
Advancing 6G and healthcare R&D
Officials from both organizations expressed confidence that the collaboration would not only boost research capabilities but also empower Indian academia and industry players to contribute meaningfully to global innovation efforts in 6G and medical engineering.
Dr P. Hanumantha Rao, Director General at SAMEER, said, “We are leading 6G research in India after the successful demonstration of our end-to-end 5G stack along with IIT Madras. The proposed collaboration with Keysight will enhance this further and enable Indian research and academic institutions to get access to next generation technologies.”
SAMEER has made significant strides in healthcare innovation, including the development of a fully indigenous Linear Accelerator (LINAC) for cancer treatment and a cost-effective 1.5T MRI system. Through the MoU, Keysight aims to support the wider adoption of these homegrown technologies across India, while both organizations will collaborate further by combining their strengths to advance ongoing research and innovation efforts.
Sudhir Tangri, Vice President of Asia Pacific Sales and Country General Manager of India at Keysight, said, “Establishing a center of excellence and building 6G research areas is a critical step towards driving innovation in India. Through this collaboration we are proud to provide the much-needed infrastructure and technology that will empower future research across healthcare and other sectors. SAMEER is a leader in its field, and we are excited to work together to accelerate our 6G and healthcare vision.”
