Milestone gets aggressive with AVG Antivirus
Brief us about Milestone Interactive in India. Milestone Interactive Private Limited represents leading global game publishers including Atari, Capcom, Electronic Arts (EA), Empire Interactive, Midway and Sony Computer Entertainment (SCEE) as well as prominent brands in the ICT space such as AVG Technologies and Kensington Computer Products Group.What are the products you are distributing? Milestone has the sole marketing rights to distribute AVG’s range of Anti Virus Suites and shortly we will be announcing the launch of SMB suite of products. Milestone has also been chosen by the world leader in computing products – Kensington (California, USA) to promote its computer peripherals range, MP3, iPhone and iPod accessory solutions. AVG and Kensington fall under the ICT division of the company while the main business of Milestone for many years has been gaming. What is the contribution of AVG Antivirus and Kensington products to your revenue? Since our tie- ups with AVG happened in April 2009 and subsequently we announced our association with Kensington in May 2009, the revenue contribution is little too early declare at this point.Are you the exclusive distributor for AVG? Yes, Milestone is the exclusive distributor with sole rights to market AVG products in India.What is the USP of AVG Antivirus and how does it stand vis-à-vis the competition? AVG's biggest USP is its low resource consumption, which means that it takes up very less space on the CPU. Also it has superior virus scanning powers as compared to other Anti Virus products. Moreover, AVG’s Identity Protection software is an assured safeguard against fraud and theft while doing online transactions and banking. Which vertical market are you focusing at present?AVG has launched its retail suite of products with 4 variants i.e. Identity Protection, Anti Virus and Internet Security for 1 User and 3 Users and this falls under the Home Security Segment. Besides this, AVG has Business Security products which will cater to SMB space and these will be made available to the Indian users in the immediate future.What is your marketing strategy for AVG products? AVG is an innovative company when it comes to developing products and we shall translate the same approach to market the products. We have already been successful at the modern retail stores and will make efforts to do in-store activities to create brand pull. Security market is untapped and our marketing strategy is aimed at reaching out to maximum users and for this we will deploy resources through mass media i.e. print and online to create awareness. In addition, we will have several on-ground promotional activities for AVG.How do you address the support issues in India? In order to make it easy for consumers to connect, we have a dedicated line for trouble shooting. Also, we have the email and FAQ section at www.avg.in to provide additional help and support to consumers.What is your reseller and channel partners’ strength? Our channel partner strength is reach and coupled with that is the fact they will reach where the AVG Anti Virus needs to be installed through resellers and system integrators.How is your empowerment and incentivisation programme for the partners? The incentive programme covers all levels of the channel community from regional partners to resellers/SIs and retailers.What kind of market growth do you see in a year’s time for AVG?The security market is fast expanding and AVG being one of the formidable players across the world, we will definitely be one of the key players in the business. I expect that we will match the current market growth during this year.
