NAVTEQ has released new visual content for its NAVTEQ map for India. This content includes Motorway Junction Objects, Sign-as-Real and 3D Landmarks, for the top eight cities in India. All of NAVTEQ's visual content is designed to work in harmony with the NAVTEQ map for accurate geographic integration, providing a quality visual navigation experience for users in India.

NAVTEQ has focused its efforts on creating visual content specifically for navigation that enables more intuitive guidance and orientation, reducing user frustration and improving their overall driving experience. NAVTEQ's own proprietary research also indicates that users want at-a-glance visual cues as part of the ideal navigation system. This is particularly important for India, where typical guidance cues such as road names are not always prevalent.

Tarun Harnathka, Director, Product Management, Indian Subcontinent, NAVTEQ said, "These new visual enhancements represent NAVTEQ's ongoing commitment to India. 3D visual content enables our customers to more closely match the navigation experience to reality. This will help raise overall acceptance of navigation systems throughout the country."

NAVTEQ's visual content portfolio is closely aligned with NAVTEQ's ongoing expansion and updates to the NAVTEQ map of India. The latest commercially released version of the map is available for more than 2000 cities throughout India with 1.12 million km of road networks.
