OM Logistics improves app development using Micro Focus Software
Leveraging the software of Micro Focus, OM Logistics has announced successful modernization of its OM Track & Trace Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) application to modernize core applications.
By moving its OM Track & Trace application from Micro Focus Server Express to Micro Focus Visual COBOL for Eclipse, OM Logistics can now create and deploy enterprise-class COBOL applications to new platforms like .NET, Java Virtual Machine (JVM), UNIX, Windows, Linux and the cloud.
S. K. Goel, Vice-President – Information Technology, OM Logistics, said, We require significant IT support to deliver the goods, but our Track & Trace application, which supports the company’s core business modules including accounting, reporting, warehousing, HR, payroll and consignment tracking, was unwieldy and out-dated. We wanted to dramatically improve the maintenance and development of our COBOL applications with a more productive application development toolset.
He added, We now have a new, more flexible and cost-effective platform for development and we can support new interfaces and technologies quickly and easily. We opted for Visual COBOL to be in line with the latest technology and move towards mobile and cloud development.
As reported by OM Logistics, the implementation has already improved application development efficiency by around 30 per cent.
