Paytm has unveiled its latest innovation in digital payments with the launch of the Mahakumbh Soundbox—a 4G-enabled Soundbox Device for Payments that offers both Visual Payment Alerts and traditional audio confirmations. Introduced by Founder and CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma at the Startup Mahakumbh event, the upgraded Paytm Soundbox features a built-in digital screen that provides instant Paytm Transaction Alerts, allowing merchants to see and hear every transaction as it happens.
Designed to enhance the Paytm Payment Notification experience, the new Soundbox for Payments comes equipped with a 3-watt speaker for loud audio alerts, a battery life of up to 10 days, and support for 11 Indian languages—making it ideal for small shops and street vendors across the country. It also aligns with the growing trend of Contactless Payment Alerts, offering convenience and clarity in cashless transactions.
“As pioneers of Soundbox technology, we introduced instant payment confirmations. With our new Made-in-India Display Soundbox, we are taking it a step further,” quipped Sharma.
In a move to maximize efficiency, Paytm is actively refurbishing inactive soundboxes and redeploying them to other merchants to improve margins and increase revenue per user. Additionally, the fintech giant has begun monetising its Soundbox Device for Payments by integrating advertising services. This allows businesses to display promotional content directly on the device screen, opening up a new revenue stream while improving the overall utility of the device.
The launch of the Mahakumbh Soundbox highlights Paytm’s continued focus on innovation and merchant empowerment, solidifying its leadership in India’s evolving digital payments landscape.
