A key advantage of this partnership is its focus on energy efficiency, enabling reduced power consumption, lower operating costs, minimized carbon footprint, and highly scalable, dense deployments that offer superior total cost of ownership over traditional storage
Pure Storage has announced a strategic collaboration with SK hynix, a global leader in AI memory solutions, to develop advanced QLC flash storage products tailored for high-capacity, energy-efficient hyperscale data centers.
As data-intensive workloads continue to surge in AI-driven environments, traditional hard disk drives (HDDs) are increasingly falling short due to limitations in performance and power efficiency. Addressing these challenges, the new joint offering will integrate Pure Storage’s DirectFlash Module technology with SK hynix’s cutting-edge QLC NAND flash memory. This next-generation storage solution is designed to deliver sustained high performance, reduced latency, and exceptional reliability—ideal for exascale workloads.
A key advantage of this partnership lies in its focus on energy efficiency. The combined technology aims to significantly lower power consumption, helping organizations manage power constraints, reduce operating expenses, and shrink their carbon footprint. Moreover, the solution is engineered to support highly dense, scalable deployments—delivering better total cost of ownership (TCO) compared to traditional storage systems.
This collaboration marks a major step forward in addressing the storage and efficiency demands of modern AI and cloud-first data centers, empowering hyperscalers to scale smarter, faster, and more sustainably.
Bill Cerreta, GM, Hyperscale, Pure Storage, said, “This collaboration with SK hynix is an exciting step in our mission to deliver superior all-flash storage technology to hyperscalers. By combining SK hynix's advanced QLC products with Pure Storage’s host-based flash management architecture, we can deliver an optimized solution for the hyperscale production environment and AI infrastructure. Pure Storage can further elevate performance, scalability, reliability, and energy efficiency, addressing the unique demands facing today’s data-centric industries.”
Sam Lee, EVP, Head of Global Sales and Marketing, SK hynix, said, “Hyperscalers are constantly searching for data storage technology that doesn’t limit their potential innovation, but propels it to unforeseen levels. SK hynix's NAND technology, combined with Pure Storage's robust platform, presents a formidable option for data center operators focused on maximizing performance, efficiency, and scalability. Together, we are empowering hyperscale environments to tackle burgeoning data volumes with cutting-edge, sustainable storage solutions.”
