Saavn launches carrier billing on Airtel and Vodafone Network

Saavn has declared that carrier billing is now available to mobile subscribers of its participating partners, including some of India’s Airtel and Vodafone.

Subscribers on these networks can now pay for access to Saavn Pro without a credit card, and without committing to a subscription. The launch of carrier billing allows Indians to make quick and easy payments for ad-free, offline access to Saavn’s vast music library.

The carrier billing initiative is a strategic move for Saavn in India, where carrier billing on prepaid and postpaid phones is the dominant mobile payment method. With carrier billing, Saavn is providing a way for Indians to access its premium music product, regardless of whether or not they have a credit card.

Subscribers can purchase Saavn Pro with their prepaid carrier balances or postpaid accounts on Android devices.

“This new billing option enables millions of Saavn Android users to access our premium music experience in a quick and effortless way. Previously, Saavn Pro was available only to credit and debit card account holders, but now, anyone with an Airtel or Vodafone account can go Pro,” said Paramdeep Singh, Managing Director & Co-Founder, Saavn. “This first foray into operator billing is part of Saavn’s continuous efforts to build even more innovative partnerships and products that address our listeners’ needs and wants."

Music fans with Airtel or Vodafone subscriptions can purchase Saavn Pro in increments of 1 day, 1 week, or 1 month without a subscription, and without a credit or debit card. The service is available for Rs.5 for a single day’s access, Rs.30 for a week, or Rs.110 for a month, for all users who have updated to the latest version of Saavn (2.7) on Android.
