Samsung expands Its Smartphone Portfolio with New Launches

Samsung Electronics has enhanced its Smartphone portfolio in India with the launch of three new "Wave" series of handsets based on its proprietary platform, "bada", as well as the Windows-based, Omnia 652. The launch of Wave 525, Wave 533 and Wave 723 follow the launch of the first Wave phone in June this year along with the Android-based Galaxy S. The new Smartphone models represent the perfect blend of smart looks and smart performance at more affordable price points.

Announcing the launch, Ranjit Yadav, Country Head - Mobile & IT, Samsung India, stated, "The New smartphones reinforce Samsung's commitment towards enhancing and democratizing the Smartphone experience in India. The use of different platforms for our Smartphones is primarily designed to give consumers a choice and provide them with a rich, connected mobile experience based on applications, content and entertainment."

The Samsung Wave525, Samsung Wave533 and Samsung Wave723 include 3.2" WQVGA TFT displays and a 100MB internal memory with a free 2GB microSD card (expandable up to16GB). The simple, intuitive UI of the phones which is a key characteristic feature of the bada platform, offers users effortless customization, interactivity and an unmatched support for social networking, device synchronization, content management and A-GPS feature which provides location-based services in Google Maps. "bada" is also open and configurable, thus letting developers create boundless new applications for the phones which can be downloaded from the Samsung Apps Store.

The easy access to Samsung Apps store with a single touch of the home screen is an interesting feature on the handsets. With the Apps store, users can enjoy a multitude of apps choices from various categories which include games, news, social-networking utilities and more, all designed specifically for Samsung smartphones. The Apps store also gives users compact and easily downloadable apps in 2.5G environment. Users can get App recommendation, free apps without signing-in and updates. Further, the new phones provide the option of browsing and downloading multiple Samsung Apps on the PC which can be installed in the phone later.
