Samsung launches Galaxy Tab

Samsung Electronics has launched its first tablet device, the Samsung Galaxy Tab in India. India is one of the first three markets where the Galaxy tab is being launched.

Powered by the latest Android Operating System 2.2, the Samsung Galaxy Tab has been customized to meet the needs of Indian consumers in terms of its applications and pioneers Samsung's entry into the nascent Tablet PC market in India.

B. D. Park, Director, Samsung India, said, 'The Samsung Galaxy tab is a leading example of digital convergence. It is set to change the lifestyle of our Indian consumers -  the way they work, they play, the way they spend their time at home and the way they carry their world with them."

The Samsung Galaxy Tab brings together all of Samsung's leading innovations to provide users with more capabilities while on the move. Consumers are able to experience PC-like web-browsing and enjoy all forms of multimedia content on the perfectly sized 7-inch display, wherever they go. Users can create and edit all Office Documents like Word, Excel and Powerpoint on the go. It has a 7"TFT-LCD display, with a very high resolution per square inch of display which delivers exciting mobile experience for watching films, viewing pictures, e-reading or sharing documents.

"For the first time, in keeping with the profile of this device, we are launching the Samsung Galaxy Tab in select IT Channels along with the Samsung Smartphone Partner mobile channel. The leading Indian operators like Airtel , Aircel , Vodafone , Tata DOCOMO and RCom will be announcing very exciting offers and data plans with the Galaxy tab, when we commence sales of the Galaxy tab," states Ranjit Yadav , Director - Mobile & IT.

The "Readers Hub", Samsung's unique e-reading application on the Galaxy tab, provides easy access to a vast digital library -  from classical literature to the latest bestsellers and reference materials. The Reader's Hub provides consumers access to over 2 million ebooks, 3,000 magazines and 1,600 newspapers in English and vernacular languages. Indian users of Galaxy tab can access 55 Indian newspapers in English and vernacular languages on their Galaxy tab. When it comes to music, Indian consumers will be able to access over 100,000 Indian songs, optimized for the Galaxy tab, on the Samsung Mobile web and website.
