Samsung Mobile Innovator, a "forum" for application developers to develop applications for Samsung mobile phones, has organized its First “Core Members Meet” in India. This event was attended by some of India’s premium application development companies.

The “Core Members Meet” is believed to provide the application developers of the Samsung Mobile Application Store with a forum to get help from Samsung, be it technical support or devices that are offered to them for testing/development or before they are actually launched in the market. Samsung Mobile Innovator will extend support to the Java, Windows Mobile and Symbian platforms as part of the Company’s ongoing commitment to open platforms.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Amy Purushotham, Vice-President – Strategy at Samsung R&D in India, stated, “The Samsung Mobile Innovator Programme is a global initiative from Samsung and provides a significant opportunity for mobile developers to create applications and services on Samsung devices for a global audience. We are still in the early stages of the programme at present, but I see this programme growing very rapidly in India, as it is in other parts of the world.”

Samsung Mobile Innovator Programme, initiated in February this year, already has over 40-plus Core Members and over 5,000-plus hub members. Core members are companies that are close partners to Samsung and are expected to make several applications exclusively for Samsung’s own Application Store, which is scheduled to be launched sometime next year.
