To beat slowdown in the PC market in India, almost all PC makers including HP, Dell, Acer and Lenovo are reportedly focussing on touch-based laptops, hybrid devices for their business growth.

Market reviewers believe that touch-enabled tablets-cum-laptops are grabbing user’s attention all over the world because of their dual functionality, ease of use and nominal prices being offered by different device makers to make them accessible to a broader base of consumers.

According to Ketan Patel, Director of HP's consumer products business in India, We expect to see a growing trend towards a multi-use environment where customers want access to multiple devices, form-factors, operating systems and ecosystems.

Besides devices makers, component and chipmakers too have spotted the latest trend.
Intending to push PC sales in India, Intel has started a nation-wide campaign in schools to raise awareness about PCs among students in May. Ramaprasad Srinivasan, Director, Intel India, said, We feel touch is at a tipping point and the line between devices traditionally meant for content creation (laptops/desktops) and consumption (smartphones/tablets) is blurring in markets like India.

It is expected that touch-enabled devices will definitely create ripples in the PC market, which may not increase the overall volumes, but it will surely steady the decline in PC sales.
