Uninor has been awarded the prestigious International Safety Award 2013 by the British Safety Council. This is Uninor’s second consecutive win for the award. In doing so, the company also remains the only mobile operator world-wide to receive this recognition. The International Safety Award is presented by the British Safety Council to organizations that demonstrate commendable work in the field of Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE). Uninor won this award after going through a comprehensive and independent audit conducted by the Council to verify the efficiency, effectiveness and reliability of the company’s occupational health, safety and environmental management systems.
“The Award will be formally presented to Uninor in a ceremony at London on April 26, 2013. “In the high visibility pursuit of business and competitive success in the marketplace, achievements on health, safety and environment often go overlooked. Recognitions such as these put the spotlight back on what is important. It is a matter of pride for Uninor, as an organization in its formative years, to have met the high standards that the Telenor Group sets on HSSE and get recognition for them,” said Sumit Sharma, Chief HR Officer of Uninor.
Uninor’s HSSE program has been recognized at several internal and external platforms. Some such recognitions include British Safety Council ‘International Safety Award 2012’ and Greentech Safety Gold Award in 2011 & 2012 ; Telenor Global HSSE Award in 2010, 2011 and 2012 .
