UPSC Launches Job Portal for Unselected Civil Services Candidates to Connect with Private Sector
2025-07-19
Some inspiring success stories of candidates who didn’t clear the final UPSC list but found rewarding private sector jobs are already making the rounds.
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), India’s top recruitment body for civil services, has introduced a transformative initiative aimed at supporting candidates who clear the written stages of its exams but do not make the final cut after interviews. Through the Public Disclosure Scheme (PDS), UPSC is now sharing details of willing, non-recommended candidates with private sector employers, giving them a much-needed second chance at a rewarding career.
Each year, UPSC conducts over 10 prestigious examinations, recommending around 6,400 candidates for various government services. However, more than 26,000 aspirants, who pass the stringent written tests, are left out post-interviews—despite proving their academic rigor and aptitude.
Short profiles of the candidates, including their education details and contact numbers, are available on the portal for those who log in, including private companies. Registered organisations can also use search filters based on subjects or specialisations to find candidates that match their needs.

The Public Disclosure Scheme is part of UPSC’s effort to recognise the immense talent of these candidates, who often hold master’s degrees and come close to final selection. Now, their hard work doesn’t go unnoticed. Government departments have also been asked to disseminate information about this portal to private companies they collaborate with.

These individuals, despite not being recommended, have secured well-paying roles in reputed companies—thanks to their strong academic background and UPSC performance, which helped them stand out during recruitment.
With this move, UPSC bridges the gap between top-tier aspirants and talent-hungry private sector companies, turning setbacks into opportunities. It also promotes fair employment by enabling corporates to access a verified, competent talent pool—boosting India’s overall human resource potential.
